1.GROUP WORK
This is a collaborative effort where individuals collectively contribute their skills and ideas to achieve a common and complete task.

a) Ability grouping
This is where students are grouped based on academic abilities, skills and amptitude
Advantages of Ability grouping
A learner creates confidence in themselves
Increases academic achievements in all the students
Gives stimulation and encouragements to each learner
Disadvantages of ability grouping
Groups with lower grading becomes discouraged and ashamed as those in higher grading may be proud
There is no academic competition
If dull learners are kept together all day and they become dull
b) Mixed or non-ability grouping
This is a group that is made of learners of a varying intelligence
Advantages
Ensures equal distribution of responses over whole class
The quick learners encourage others to be as good as them
Ensures equal opportunity of being the best groups since there is intergroup competition
Boost the morale of the average and weak learners to better their bests
Inter-mingling encourages the shy or timid learners to be confident in all aspects
Disadvantages
The intelligent learners may be frustrated if the pace is too slow
Difficulty in giving individual attention since the measure of intelligence varies and this may hinder effective learning
C) Social or Natural Grouping
This is a grouping where learners sit whenever they like basing on similar characteristics and collectively has a sense of unity
Advantages
Better self esteem
Sometimes learners work better if allowed to sit beside someone they know
They make learners to feel accepted connected and supported
Makes learning easy for students when in familiarity
Disadvantages
This does not prepare learners socially for life
This may cause wastage of time due to chitchats of friendship
d) Interest grouping
This where learners who are interested in a certain topic activity may be grouped together just while the activity is in progress.
Advantages
When learners are interested in what they are doing they give their best
Not all learners like the same activities
A learner will get an opportunity of developing new talents
Disadvantages
An influence of peer pressure
Timid volunteers may be afraid to volunteer for any new challenge
Some groups may be large or small
e) sex grouping
This is a gender-based group where there is male and female
Advantages
Enhanced sexual exploitation and variety
Discover new forms of pleasure
With multiple partners involves individuals cart indulge in diverse activities
Disadvantages
May perpetuate gender stereotypes and limit individual potential assuming certain traits based on biological sex
Can reinforce gender bias and hinder development of skills
It can overlook the diversity of individuals within sex
Neglects unique abilities and learning styles
f) Random grouping
This is where learners are chosen in a haphazard way to form group as in there is no criteria used
Advantages
Promotes diversity and inclusion by bringing together learners with different ability and skills
Bring about brilliant ideas and experiences
Reduces the potential for biasness
Fair distribution of opportunities among participants
Disadvantages
Might result to uneven distribution of skills among learners
They may feel uncomfortable working with the people they don’t know well hence affecting personalities
The group may not consider specific needs leading to satisfaction among the participants
